When it comes to receiving care for gum disease or other periodontal concerns, partnering with an experienced periodontist is key to successful treatments and results.
At Chattanooga Periodontics & Dental Implants, our board-certified periodontists are considered specialists in the field, offering a wide range of proven surgical periodontics procedures. They have made it their mission to improve their patients’ oral and overall health through life-changing treatments.
For those suffering from gum disease, we are skilled in osseous surgical periodontics treatment. This procedure involves gently pulling away gum tissue to gain access to the tooth root to allow for cleaning. We can thoroughly clear away gum disease-causing bacteria and promote a healthier environment. Infected gum tissue may also be removed. The gums are then carefully stitched back in place and allowed to heal. Our periodontists have performed hundreds of these surgical periodontics procedures and ensure your safety and comfort throughout treatment.

How We Treat Gum Disease Comfortably with LANAP®
Robert got Connective Tissue Graft treatment with Dr. Felts at Chattanooga Periodontics & Dental Implant
Gum grafting is a common and effective surgical periodontics procedure to correct gum recession and even out the gum line. Gum recession is most often caused by gum disease, but can also be due to aggressive brushing, genetics and poor oral hygiene. During a gum grafting procedure our skilled periodontists will take a sample of tissue from either the roof of your mouth or from a donor and stitch it over areas of recession, underneath existing gum tissue. We can restore a number of teeth during one visit and improve your oral health through treatment.
My Gum Graft Alleviated My Exposed Roots and Discomfort
A person who has a “gummy” smile shows excessive gingival tissue when they smile. Their teeth often appear shorter than normal. If you’re bothered by the appearance of how your smile looks, you can undergo cosmetic surgical periodontics in our Chattanooga, TN office through crown lengthening. Crown lengthening involves gently trimming away excess gum tissue to even out the gum line and restore aesthetics. Crown lengthening can also be used to restore function, if there is not enough tooth structure available for orthodontics or a dental crown.
