Immediate Implant Process

Extractions are performed during the same appointment as the implant placement. You will be placed on IV sedation, ensuring that you are comfortable and pain-free throughout the procedure. Dr. Randall will then carefully extract any unhealthy or non-viable teeth.

Once the extraction stage is complete, your periodontist will place the single implant if your are a candidate for this portion of the procedure. Implants are small titanium screws placed into the jawbone and then left to heal in place. Once they fuse with the surrounding bone, they provide a firm anchor for replacement teeth. Your periodontist will place a temporary replacement tooth before the end of the appointment.

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during their recovery from immediate implants. Over-the-counter remedies, including acetaminophen and ibuprofen, are usually most than sufficient for mitigating pain.

Am I a Good Candidate for Immediate Dental Implants?

For most patients, the notion of a single surgery for immediate dental implants is much more appealing than a lengthier, multi-step procedure. Many patients do qualify for the teeth in a day approach. An exception is patients whose jawbone has become damaged or infected.
